I haven't been around in a while... but I'll do better...
A good friend of mine (one of my running buddies) lost her father. Her younger sister, who went to high school with me started blogging as a result. It brought me back to remembering just how comforting it is to let things out... to have a venue of just saying whatever I want, with no judgement... then again, if I am judged, so what...
Well... last month I completed my half marathon. I ran with Team Determination (American Cancer Society), and raised a little over $1,200! I ran for Mymomma. I ran my ass off for Mymomma... Everytime I got tired, she said "Lez, you're almost there..." So I kept running... Before I knew it, I had run 13.1 miles... and I felt amazing. Throughout the summer I've done the Shamrock Shuffle (8k- 4.96 miles) Wrigley Start Early Run (5k- 3.1 miles) Ridge Run (5k- 3.1 miles) and the Rock n Roll Half (13.1 miles)... I want to do MORE! Running gives me such a feeling of freedom. Like I have no worries aside from getting to the finish line... and oh boy... that finish line is SUCH an amazing accomplishment... even moreso because I make sure that I have Mama and Mymomma with me... I make sure that I have my corral nail polish on (Mama's favorite color), and wear my grandmothers gold 13 horseshoe necklace... it was her favorite and she wore it everyday up until a few days before she left us.
So much has happened over the months. My sister closed on Mama's house, and is all moved in. It's bitter sweet to go by there, but it's the house we grew up in, so there's always a feeling of comfort... I feel her spirit there... warming. With the sale of the house came all of the drama associated with moms side of the family. They hate that my sisters and I are so close. They hate that we're not failures. They hate that everything they've always thought of us was never true.... It's sad that a family can hold so much hate for other members, but such is...
I'm proud of what we have become. Through all the negative that we've experienced... I'm happy... blessed... and I feel great.
